Not disorder but difference

  • If ADHD is a disorder, responsibility lies with the patient who takes medical advice and medication – in an attempt to be normal.
  • If ADHD is a difference, responsibility lies with the schools, universities, businesses and governments – to accommodate differences in 4%+ of their population

Medicine can play a part in helping people with ADHD, not always. A significant number of problems experienced by ADHD people lie with society. Better education, more flexibility in work, acceptance of diversity – let those of us with inventive, creative talents, uninspired by carrots and sticks, who desire autonomy, mastery and purpose – be ourselves.
