ADHD is evolutionary direction!

Tue, 17/05/2011 - 1:19pm |  Andrew Lewis

New scientist coverNew Scientist has just written about research at Harvard and Boston Universities that shows  a link between two versions of a specific gene and ancient migration patterns - how as homans migrated from Africa 50,000 years ago, evolution selected genes linked to risk-taking and adventurousness. They also showed that people diagnosed with ADHD are twice as likely to have the 7R allele. The ADHD traits of rapidly shifting focus and quick movements, are actually survival traits selected for during our migration out of Africa. See here for the full article.
