Lazy Work19th February - Working with ADHD

One of the major issues for adults with ADHD is finding interesting, low admin, engaging, minimally beurocratic, autonomous, self-directed work! No wonder that adults with ADHD are three times more likely to run their own business than the normal population. ADHD adults tend to have significantly more jobs over a lifetime too, leaving jobs seeking more excitment and novelty, struggling with managers and rules, avoiding boredom and mundane tasks and generally getting in trouble from procrastination and from being maverick.

What jobs suits the creative, intuitive, stimulation seeking, rules and paperwork avoiding ADHD mind? How do you find the right job and importantly how do you keep it! A talk and discussion on Working with ADHD.

Meeting and Sharing with other ADHD Adults

We usually meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 10:30-12:30 but  please check the website or subscribe to reminders to be sure! We are a large support group (often over 40 attendees) with a lecture/presentation on some aspect of ADHD each month. There is plenty of time to discuss the talk and to share the highs and lows of ADD with fellow attendees - but there is no pressure to talk or share at all.The group is upbeat, dynamic, helpful and stimulating!

People come from all over and from all ages (18-70) and all professions (whether entrepreneurs, unemployed, psychiatrists, programmers, students or singers! The aim is to be a fun and relaxed support group, with the added value of  informative talks, focused discussion, a relaxed setting and all enjoyed with "brunch" food and drink! It is organised to keep interest high and to ensure everyone equally benefits from their experience of attending.

DiaryWhen we meet

We usually meet every third Sunday of the month, please subscribe to the reminders (above) to be sure.

If you tend to forget dates please fill in your email address at the top of this page to receive automatic reminders.

We continue to give talks on a wide variety of ADHD related topic, please see here for list of previous talks.

"Tear & Share" ADHD Support Group Guidelines

Our meetings our fun, informal and relaxed. Our goal is that attendees leave better informed and happier than on arrival! We ask that attendees respect each other, maintain confidentiality and give everyone a chance to talk and share.

At the October 18th 2009 meeting, the attendees reviewed and agreed the "Tear & Share" ADHD Support Group Guidelines. These guidelines have been put in place to agree the emphasis and objectives of the group and also to provide a framework so that attendees can feel confident and safe within the group in terms of confidentiality, acceptable behaviour etc. Please click here for Guidelines.
