So I'm ADHD - what next?

I think I am ADHD?

So you have always known you were "different" and have finally figured out why. Maybe your child has been diagnosed and their characteristics are shared by you, or your symptoms match those on an ADD symptom list (see my list here). Maybe you read an article, saw a programme and light bulbs of recognition went off? You might like to check out my Integrated Model of ADHD to see whether it fits.

Well whatever alerted you, you probably are ADHD! With the current lack of information available, most adults reflect deeply before they conclude they are ADD - so you are probably right in your self-diagnosis. To reach this conclusion usually involves a lot of research and soul-searching. Remember ADHD diagnosis (like all mental diagnoses) is not that objective anyway nor is ADHD uncommon, statistics vary but most likely ADHD affects from 4-8% of the population, that's one in 12 people - far more prevalent than any other neurological difference -  the odds are high indeed that you are ADHD!

SimplywellbeingSo what do I do next?

Get help. It's as simple as that. Finally, you can get some help...

Struggling with hidden problems until now, most likely has not helped you overcome your ADHD challenges. You now stand on the edge of a new life, one where you will start to understand what has troubled you and be able to overcome many of your issues. The fantastic thing is that there is help for ADHD/ADD and it really will make a difference. So here is my summary of the steps you can now take:

  1. Read: Delivered from Distraction and other books here

  5. Visit a: Support Group and meet other ADD adults and stop being alone
  6. Get an: ADHD Coach, speak to a SimplyWellbeing Coach click here for free consult
