Coaching for Partners and Parents

Education for people close to us...

Most people with ADD live with close relationships to wives, husbands, colleagues, partners, friends, parents or children. It is important for our wellbeing to have positive and meaningful relationships with these non-ADHD relations but ADHD makes these relationships sometime fraught and difficult. Some of these issues come from our ADHD struggles and some from our non-ADHD relations mistakenly interpreting our somewhat unusual behaviors!

If you are recently diagnosed (self or medically), or have set you heart on making some changes in your life - whether medication, coaching, visiting support groups or self-education - these changes will have an impact on those close to you. If they do not understand your challenges and why ADHD affects you as it does you may find resistance and criticism to these new approaches and strategies. Better to bring your relations on side, understanding your ADHD as much as possible, providing you the right kind of support and encouragement - helping you move forward in life.

Education for Partners and Parents

This is a tailored education session for £125, lasting ninety minutes (1 & 1/2 hours) for you and a significant other. We meet in West London, or on the phone, with you and your non-ADHD partner or friend. the session is also avail for parents and their child(ren). We will discuss:

  • A real-world perspective and explanation of ADHD
  • Insight into the complicated diagnosis and medication process
  • Insight into the ADD partner/child's struggles
  • How best for the non-ADHD partner/parent can help
  • The difference between nagging and support
  • Next steps in your relationship

Is it critical for your wellbeing that you live in harmony, as much as possible, with the important people in your life. Non-ADHD adults struggle to understand the challenges of ADHD and can misinterpret ADHD behaviours as being deliberate and uncaring rather than forgetfully distracted! It is a hard concept to grasp that ADHD is an issue with "doing" not with "understanding".

There is no set formula for improving life with ADHD, save to learn as much as possible about it, to Understand, Accept and Embrace your (your relative's or your friend's) ADD.
