ADHD Coaching Benefits

Why ADHD Coaching?

For many adults with ADHD their struggles do not come from a lack of understanding of what "needs to be done". In fact many are experts in time management systems, organisation strategies and best practices - from having tried so many and failed. The problem is that these conventional systems just do not work for someone with ADHD.  Your adult ADHD Coach understands that problem behaviours arise from neurological issues - difficulties with memory, focus, interest, procrastination, emotions - rather than from childhood issues or not appreciating what needs to be done! Your ADHD Coach can act to help you find systems and habits that work specifically for you and then to support, encourage and remind you. They help you make the changes to you life that you have always wanted.

Expected Improvements from ADD Coaching

Those living with ADHD are not disabled, just different and have the resources to improve you life It may just take some unconventional approaches to achieve your goals and your ADD Coach will help you find and then help turn these approaches into simple habits suited to your character.  With coaching you should expect to see improvements at:

Work - improvements in work habits and engagement can lead to increased income, improvement in work habits (such as time management, organization and follow-through), more confidence and better job performance too. ADD people starting or running a business find coaching to be invaluable for changing motivation from the “unwanted/hated” external pressures of managers and performance appraisals to and a new enjoyable internal drive, based on personal goals and aspirations.

Home - better understanding of why you behave as you do, can lead to improved relationships with friends and family. Developing strategies and systems in the home to handle tedious, or organisationally demanding tasks, results in lower stress and more time for fun. Gaining deeper insight into what makes you happy and healthy, whether sleep, medications, diet, desires and dreams helps you achieve a deeper sense of well being in your life.

School - your child's difficulties can be overcome, with understanding of your child/teenager's negative and positive traits you can focus on working as a team to overcome their problems. ADHD affects much more than complete homework and focus, so with understanding parents can help with friends, moods, decisions and health too. School is not an easy environment for an ADHD child or teenager, your coach can help you advocate for your child at school to avoid the very real damage to self-esteem that can arise.
