ADD / ADHD Coach - Andrew Lewis
Andrew Lewis
Hello, I am Andrew Lewis, Director of SimplyWellbeing, an ADHD Coach. I coach Adults with ADD in-person in West London and by phone. I would like to help you Understand, Accept and Embrace your ADD and to improve your wellbeing.
I do not see ADD as a disorder or illness, certainly you have different "brain wiring" and some extremely problematic traits. But you will most likely have some positive traits too, like your sense of humour, intuition, creativity and ability to see the big-picture. Have a look at my perspective on ADHD here. As a coach with ADHD, I have the life experience, inside knowledge and the specialist training to help people with ADHD to make change, progress and to re-define their lives to better fit thier own charatcter, to be who and what they want to be.
My commitment
I want you to enjoy your coaching sessions and will ensure we have a safe and constructive atmosphere.
Our sessions will be interesting, challenging, fun and never boring...
I'll share what I observe in our sessions and seek agreement to changes in your behaviours to help you make progress.
My advice will be honest and compassionate advice, and I'll always champion your strengths and successes.
I am ADHD too so I will never under-estimate your challenges but neither will I accept that they cannot be overcome - one way or another!”
Send me an email or call me on 020 8099 7671, I'd love to hear from you.
Training & Experience
I am a graduate of the ADD Coaching Academy, New York. The ADD Coaching Academy is the largest and most comprehensive trainer of ADD Coaches Worldwide. I have coached over a hundred adults with ADHD including Psychiatrists, CEOs, IT Professionals, Homemakers, Entrepreneurs, Musicians, Students, Nurses and City Traders, from as far afield as New York, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
I am Head of the Churchill Adult ADHD Centre in London that offers consulatative diagnosis and treatment options. I run a monthly ADHD Adult Support Group in central London, which usually has over forty attendees, I present widely on ADHD and run workshops across the UK. I am the UK Lighthouse (establishing) Member of ACO, the ADHD Coaches Association, that promotes ADHD Coaching Worldwide.
As a good ADDer, I tend to see the big picture! So I am also a Certified NLP and Hypnotherapy Practitioner. I completed the first half of the Open University Psychology Degree, (wrote each essay the night before due - did well, only started to study for the main exams the nigt before - did OK, but the unread fine print stated they take the lower mark, not the average, so I gave up!). I have also extensively studied Positive Psychology, the study of Happiness and have given workshops on using its findings in everyday life. Since I see our wellbeing as all connected I have further extensively studied Meditation, Nutrition, Health and Neuroscience.
My ADD life
I was late, self-diagnosed ADD in my forties and had to follow the long, difficult and often painful path to ADD medical diagnosis in the UK. I have been on a number of ADD medications but I am currently unmedicated but I am taking a number of supplements instead.
My life prior to diagnosis could be fairly described as a classic ADD Roller-coaster from passionate and fun times to overwhelmed and sad; from struggle at work to successful entrepreneur.
I worked in IT for over twenty years, from programming, to marketing, sales and management. I set-up, managed and later owned a number of successful start-up IT businesses, but ADHD issues with focus, organisation and planning were ever present.
I finally crashed with depression, addictions and home-life troubles. After failing to be diagnosed by the "experts", I finally self-diagnosed myself on Wikipedia! After a long journey to official diagnosis (both private and NHS), I made a difficult, important and ultimately rewarding decision - to align my life with my personality, to use my ADD traits of passion, creativity and my hard-learnt knowledge to help others. I became an ADHD Coach, and successfully turned around my own Health, Happiness and Wellbeing.
Currently un-medicated (no meds have worked for me yet), my main struggles are boredom, activation (getting started), memory and I confess pspending too much time on dopamine boosting PS3 games!
